Troy Hicks warns that technology in classrooms can't be seen as add-ons, but should be used to acquire digital literacy. In the article, the authors provide a list of things teachers should do and do not do in the classroom regarding digital literacy. For example, PowerPoint presentation/assignment slides that a student uses, does very little to help with their digital literacy. The students doesn't learn through PowerPoint, they just do it since they are told to make a presentation with a couple pictures and a video link. The student doesn't gain any knowledge by doing their assignment. In SAMR, digital literacy is applied in a few stages and it gets more intricate as it reaches redefinition. From using Safari to mind mapping.
