In the article, No Longer A Luxury: Digital Literacy Can't Wait, it discusses the idea that using technology in the classroom should not be used as an additional source within the classroom but rather used to incorporate a variety of digital literacies. The article also encourage teachers to push for digital literacy in the classroom. I think that incorporating digital technology in the classroom is a great idea considering that the world we live in revolves around technology and digital technology will become a remix of textbooks and workbooks. 


The SAMR model  is a model that is designed to help educators incorporate technology into teaching and learning. Teachers are able to design and develop technology to utilize their students learning experiences. I think that the model is a great way to enhance technology within the classroom. Because technology is consistently growing, textbooks along with other books are becoming obsolete, which means that more individuals are forced to use technology. As a future teacher, I would like to provide many resources for my students to benefit from as technology is primarily used in the classroom. 


Today, I was introduced to a new technology resource called 'Loomio' which is an app used to have discussions and make decisions. The app is geared towards people on boards and committees, cooperative groups, the government and the community. This app can be beneficial for educators because teachers are able to use the app to co-plan with other teachers, parents or guardians, and community representatives to design learning experiences. Students are also able to use the app to complete group projects and connect with peers outside of school. -Aja (09/11/2018)

    I completely agree that physical books are becoming obsolete. It is vital that technology is introduced into the class rooms of all schools because this is the way of our future. We need to be giving children the upper hand as much as possible. This means are teachers need to embrace technology and be willing to learn and use it themselves. My sons fifth grade teacher makes it well known that she does not care for the new age of teaching, from the way her class room needs to be set up to the technology that must be used. To me if she is that willing to tell a parent she just met and in front of her student this then how well can and is she teaching my son about the Ipad that I had to pay for?

      That's a great point. It is important for teachers to become acquainted with how to use technology as it is constantly being used. I think that as older teachers start to become interactive with newer generations, it becomes hard for them to meet the child's educational needs because they are so use to teaching the traditional way. Older teachers have to start learning and becoming equipped with technology as this is a resource that will be used in classrooms.
