Digital Citizenship is designed to empower students with skills to think critically, behave safely and participate responsibly while online. It is important because it teaches students how to navigate technology safely. Because our world is constantly becoming digital, teachers have to make it a priority to inform their students about how to safely use the internet especially if technology is a main resource used in classrooms.
Technology is a great tool to use within the classroom for many different things including instruction and activities. Many Early Childhood classes use iPads and smart boards to enhance learning. I personally love the idea of incorporating technology into a curriculum but I also think that it should be limited. Students should be allowed a certain amount of time for technology use; as this will leave more time for more face to face learning. The article stated that teaching digital literacy involves being willing to talk, learn and listen and if technology is incorporated into the classroom, then we as teachers should incorporate practicing the safety of it in our lesson plans.
