The footprint
The internet really is forever and that is a scary but realistic concept. There are so many dangers that come along with using the internet. There's cyber bullying and just having access to anything and everything, meaning things that children should not be able to have access to. That being said students should be aware and learn how to use the internet in the safest way possible. The best way to get students to learn this would be through the teacher. I think working through things with students would be the best way to get students used to using the internet in new different ways. That way they can stay safe and be able to ask questions as they go through step by step. This could also show them how with each step things are leaving that "footprint" and an easy way to explain to little ones could be the snow example of each step you take and turn around you can see everywhere you have been. Especially with little kids teaching this simple idea could help them understand the internet a little better and with older kids how when they post it really is for everyone and is there even if they try to delete it.
Hi Megan,
ReplyDeleteReading about the snow example brought a smile to my face. Not only is the example awesome, but the saying is very true and easily understandable for young students to grasp. Relating that saying to the Internet would work. I don't think that it would scare the students but it's a realistic way to teach young students to be mindful of their digital footprint.
I agree with you. Students should know how to use internet. They have a asses to pretty much everything. It is on parents and teacher to educate student how should they behave on social media and internet. They are young but more often they have more knowledge how to use technologies then an adult.
