After reading the blog there were many different aspects that I found interesting. The ideas of promoting positivity and not fear was a big one because kids should feel safe when using the internet but should also know their boundaries. We need to be aware that once we put something on the internet it is out there forever no many how many times we hit the delete button. I would make sure to have a safe website for information between me and the students in my classroom. I would never want to put my students in danger of being exposed to things on the internet that weren't safe. I liked how in the blog we read she had the four layered approach to promote cyber safety.
As said before we need to be aware that what we put on the internet is forever and that everyone around the world is able to see that picture or comment. In the blog we read she had mentioned that we should get into a habit of googling ourselves so we are aware of what information others are seeing about yourself. Some friends may not want to be tagged in a post for this reason because every single thing can be tracked back to you and is apart of our digital footprint. We need to protect the younger generations from the bad parts of the internet but we also need to have them up to par with the advanced technology they will have to use. Having safe and friendly websites for your class to use and making it private for only the children in the class and possibly the parents to be able check I think is a great idea.
Hi there Kiley, I can agree with you in many ways for your take on digital footprints, mainly because of how the internet shouldn't be a place of fear but be a place to increase knowledge safely. Becoming educated on the internet is information everyone should have to have before being able to go on.
ReplyDeleteHi Emma, than you for commenting on my blog. I think the internet can be a scary place if not used right and not used in a protective way. I am glad we can agree on the many ways to create your digital footprint.
