responsible consumers of technology
I found in the article Primary Tech by Kathleen Morris that their are a lot of things students should look out for while in the digital world. We cannot assume we are always in control especially just because we delete something. Everything we do is always on record. Something that I found interesting was there reference to YAPPY which stands for Y- you're full name, A- address, P- phone number, P- passwords, Y- your plans. This was an acronym for students to remember when posting on social media or doing things in the internet world to make sure they are aware of and are not providing that information to anyone, along other things but these things are major and pose a threat to someone. I feel that digital citizenship is very important to teach in school especially because thats the day and age we live in now.

Hi Allison,
ReplyDeleteI posted about the same article. I agree that YAPPY is pretty helpful. The article also talked about how important it is to make internet safety a continuous lesson - it cannot be taught in a day or by one teacher alone, I think that was a key point. Good post!
