Lesson 2, Part 2

The planned technology tool that I used for Lesson 2 is a resource called Flipgrid in which students can create interactive videos in which students can reply to. I intend to use this tool as a resource for digital discussion. Not only can Flipgrid be used for academic purposes, Flipgrid can be used for socio-emotional activities within the classroom to help with the classroom community. Flipgrid allows for students to share their voice in the classroom through the intimacy of a video. Students that may be a bit nervous to talk within the classroom can use Flipgrid to engage in the classroom academic discussion. Also, students that may have specific learning disabilities that have trouble with writing can use Flipgrid to engage in academic discussions through videos.

Flipgrid is utilized in Lesson 2 as a chance for students to interact with each other in an academic discussion about the parts of plot in Kate Chopin's Story of an Hour. Students will use Flipgrid as an After Reading homework activity. The activity will be used as an assessment assignment for the teacher to see that students understand the story, the plots of the story, as well as ensuring that students are interacting with each other and discussing the plots of the story.

Limitations with Flipgrid may be limitations with ELL students who may have issues with language barriers. Students can use Skype Translator. Students can use the Skype Translator tool to translate their first language into English to engage in academic discussion with their peers for the purpose of the assignment.
