No longer a Luxury..

In the article " No Longer a Luxury: Digital Literacy Can't Wait" it states "We want—or, rather, we need—today’s students to critically consume information, to create and share across time and space, to cocreate and collaborate to solve problems, to persevere in light of setbacks, and to maintain flexibility." Literacy that is digital gets the information to the students and lets them develop these skills. We should let students learn to cite or learn how to make own image. Students need to know the flexibility of digital literacy.

After looking at the SAMR models and how it breaks down substitution, augmentation, modification, and redefinition shows how technology can impact the classroom. But depending on the grade level and the experience with technology, find out what is most appropriate for a good learning experience. Different ways note taking, reading, and even research can be shown in different apps. Showing a few different apps for each can help every student because not every student learns the same way. Modify if needed in each lesson.

I think that technology in the classroom can have students develop new skills and to continue to learn in different ways. They can learn how to consume new things in different ways and find the way that best works for them. With new websites and new tools to use, it would be very easy for students to get involved with each other. Also to collaborate to solve problems in the classroom. Not just for students but this could also work for teachers. Technology has so many ways to learn new things and new ways. It has different ways to learn and to teach new materials.

  1. Hello, I like how you brought up that not every students learns in the same way. Some applications might work really well for one student but not the other and being able to see that and accommodate for both students would help them both out in the long run.

  2. I believe that all students learn in different ways and at different times. Some things work for kids better then it works for others. So as a teacher you have to figure out a middle ground so all students learn the best they can.
