For my activity I chose the online website called Interactive sites. The website directs the students to a number of subjects they can chose from that offer many different games to play for each subject they are learning. For my lesson the students will be learning about the three important C's in Language Arts which are conjunctions, contractions, and compound words. They will be learning how to identify one for another, and practice making these words into sentences. The website is a great way for the students to practice in a variety of forms in order to be successful in the lesson. The website can be used on i pads, computers, and other forms of technology. The website will be only one part of the four stations in the classroom to learn but will help significantly with individual practice. The website or app is free which is a great reason to use for first through third graders learning this content. Although the information on the app can be useful students may be spending too much time on the screen and not practicing writing out the contractions or conjunctions for themselves which is a vital part of learning. Using pencil and paper can help you to better understand content rather than hurting your eyes staring into a screen for too long.
After reading and trying for myself some of the different tools that can help students with disabilities and ELL students I found that the tool call Readsy can truly change a students ability to learn. The tool is free and it helps to focus on one word at a time without having to move while reading. Readsy could help children who struggle with comprehension or get distracted easily. The tool can help students who struggle with disabilities such as dyslexia or reading problems. I feel that the tool would be best related to my app for the students because it will help the students with their reading accuracy. I feel that this app is going to benefit everyone from ELL students and special needs to even children just needing a little help to break down each word so they can improve one step at a time.
Hello Emma.
ReplyDeleteI really like your ideas for activity 2. I really liked the accommodations you provided for both ELL students and special need students. It is important that all children are provided with the chance and opportunity to learn and grow. I like the fact that you mention that too much screen time can hurt a students eyes, so you provide pencil and paper to give their eyes a little bit of a break. I really like all your ideas and wish you the best of luck!
